One of the top most asked questions in the study of animal behaviour is, “Do animals have emotions?” And the simple and correct answer is, “Of course they do.” Just look at them, listen to them and if you dare, smell the odours that pour out when they interact with friends and foes. Look at their faces, tails, bodies and, most importantly their eyes. What we see on the outside tells us a lot about what’s happening inside animals’ heads and hearts. Animal emotions aren’t all that mysterious.
The study of animal behaviour is called ethology. In this field we include both instinctual and learned behaviours .
There are two types of common behaviours; Instinctual behaviour; this is when the same type of behaviour is shown throughout a species. For instance, some birds will raise their chicks and other birds will put their egg in the nest during nesting season and most of the time the same species of bird will have the same instinctual behaviour.
Learned behaviour; Is when the species learn that behaviour off another species.
